Big Baby

This is Malesa's worst nightmare right now. A 17.5 lbs baby. It is the second largest baby in recorded history, second only to a 22 lbs Italian baby born back in the 1950s. Phillip says that our baby is going to be as big as a watermelon. Ouch! We especially like the expression on the baby in the next bassinet. He looks terrified!
Well anyway, we hope that all is going well for everyone. We are soooo excited for Emily and Danny's baby and are rooting for a baby girl! Phillip is doing excellent in school. He likes drilling on fake teeth. Yeah Phillip. We love you all. Have a fabulous day!

more from mom
Dear family,
well, blogging is a blast! I don't have any pictures or anything that cool - really, thanks for the video, Malesa! How about posting your next ultrasound? We are fine. Dad drove me to relief society in Clinton tonight where I was on a "women of wisdom" panel. It sounded fun - all the pre-questions they gave us involved mother and wife questions. But when we got there, they had the sisters all write a new question, and that's what they asked us. Well, I sat there silently pulling a blank as they fired question after question of a different type: "When is the best time to plant a garden in this area? How do you attach the chicken wire to the frame of a rabbit hutch? How do you keep wild animals out of your garden? (Answer: hang pieces of Irish Spring soap in the plants, or urinate around the perimeter of the plants.) Boy was I glad when they got to, how do you discipline a child? ANyway, it was fun, and a great feeling with the sisters - 27 were there! There's another baptism in our ward Saturday - a 16-year -old girl who has tried for a year to get her mother to let her be baptized. Lasweek it was a nice young man who builds and races cars, and tonight Steve visited a family with the missionaries, whose 11-yr-old son can't wait to be baptized. Last week we visited that family and he said that and his mom wants to too, but his mom has to work every sunday, and so they can't attend church en0ugh toqualify. We prayed with them that that work schedule problem would be worked out. Tonight she told them that her supervisor is leaving and she is being promoted to her position, and she will have every-other Sunday off! So now they can attend and be baptized!
Well, that's the word from the mission field! Love to you all! Mom

Peter and Megan update
We sent out this email tonight, but wanted to post it here, too. If you didn't get the email, it means we don't have your email address, so please send it to us or post it here.
A link to pictures is at the bottom (one is from this update and one is from the reunion). Here's the update:
It’s hard to believe that Spencer is already 18 months old! It seemed like an appropriate time to send an update and some pictures of how much he’s grown and changed over the past year and a half.
Peter is still working at M&T Bank in Buffalo . He travels to Baltimore quite a bit to meet with his team members there and deal with some of the challenges that they present. Overall it’s been a rewarding job and he’s been able to meet a lot of people at the bank and get some recognition for the great job that he’s doing.
Megan enjoys staying at home with Spencer and has kept busy this summer with playgroups, story time at the library, and running after Spencer. Megan is now serving in the Primary at church (with the 3-12 year olds) and it’s been a fun experience. The kids are definitely entertaining and are overall very good. But it is very big – there are 71 kids and 38 more in nursery (18 months – 3 years). So that presents its own challenges. She is also in charge of the Primary Program at the end of October where the kids present to the entire congregation, which will definitely be interesting….
We took a few little trips this summer, spending a weekend in Toronto to celebrate our anniversary (without Spencer), a week in Missouri for a Brinton family reunion and a weekend in Maryland to visit Megan’s sister Alyson’s family.
Spencer took his time learning to walk, but took the plunge at 16 months, and is now all over the place. He is also learning to stomp his feet, run, and walk backwards. He says about 30 words now, and constantly amazes us at how observant he is. He can spot a plane, dog, ball, star, clock, bird, or bee from very far away and most often before we notice. He’s a sweet boy and it’s fun to watch him learn and develop. He is relatively tall for his age (81st percentile) but average weight (48th percentile), so he might have Peter’s body type.
We hope you enjoy the pictures at the link below. You can see how much Spencer has grown. Yes, his hair is naturally that blonde and curly and no, we haven’t cut it yet.
We hope you are doing well and would love to hear an update if you get a chance.
Love,
Peter, Megan and Spencer Brinton

Happy Birthday Chris! Hope you have a great day.
We just wanted to give the NYC update. Today Phillip ran his "Manhattan Miles" race. He went from the bottom tip of the island all the way to the top. Go Phillip! He did well but did comment on how his legs were numb by the end. Malesa is excited because she felt the baby move for the first time! It was sooo cute! It gave two reassuring kicks in the gut to make it's presence known right after Malesa said, "I want to feel this baby move now!"
Phillip also started school this week. He LOVES studying his infectious disease material.
Hope all is well all over the country.
love,
Phillip and Malesa

Hi family. I hope you have all had a good week. Phil and Malesa, thanks for posting the video and pictures. They were fun to see.
We got home from Missourri on Wednesday and left for Maryland on Friday. I worked in DC Friday and and then we stayed with Megan's sister's family in southern Maryland for the weekend. We had fun visiting and playing games. We played Dance Dance Revolution and Karaoki Revolution on their Nintendo. We held our own on the easy versions and had a good time. That Saturday we went to a waterpark. Spencer loved the pool, as always.
This past Thursday night Megan and Spencer both came down with the flu. I stayed home from work to take care of them and fortuneately they were both feeling much better by Friday evening.
Yesterday we finished up some painting on the dining room and I worked on installing a new light fixture. I broke one of the cardinal rules in replacing electrical units, to pay attention to how things are connected on the old unit before disconnecting them. After connecting the new unit I turned on the circuit breaker and found that the light went on but that the wall switch could not turn it off. I determined the problem must be with that red wire that I didn't know what to do with. After researching on line for about 30 minutes I found an article called "The evil red wire". It addressed the exact problem I was having and I was able to get it fixed.
Have a great week!

from mom & dad Sunday 8/19
Dear Kids,
Wow, what a fantastic reunion! We can still goof off better than anyone else I know! Well, I know tomorrow everybody will be working/schooling/etc. So will we. But we will be having all the fun images running around in our heads! We are so proud of all of you and all the great things you're doing! Have a great week, and have a lot of fun too - WE LOVE YA! Polo says "Woof"
P.S. Yes, everyone got home safely, and even fit Em's golf caddy bag in Christian's trunk! Peter and Megan and Spencer had no trouble hitting their 2nd flight, Andy's flat tire is successfully changed now, and his "flat leg" is healing, and Christian's car didn't refuse to start until after it had travelled from Missouri to Salt Lake. Now it's ok. (We trust) We're happy to report that Danny did well and even made some more bucks this tournament and he and Em are probably back together right now. Phil and Malesa did get to see LeMis for Malesa's birthday, and we trust Peter and Megan and Spencer are safely back from D.C. Christian is only homeless for another 6 days, and Katie and Anthony are busy getting Brinton and Ethan ready for school at Skyview Elementary. And Branson still loves parades - you'll have to ask him why.

Starting Blog - Aug 13, 2007
Hi, everyone! This is our family blog spot, Thanks to Malesa! We all want to contribute to this so we have sort of a running letter.
Today we went to Truman Lake with Sam Leipard to jet ski. We had a little collision, and andy wound up with a swollen leg and stiches in his elbow. but aside from that it was Great!
