Malesa - do you know if you have to grant people access to be able to post? Megan and I are trying to help Emily figure out how to post and it doesn't seem to be working. Are their different permissions you have to grant?

Superhero

Tonight Malesa and I went to our anesthesia class that was held over at the hospital. About 20 minutes into the class we were looking at some diagrams showing insertion of epidural needles into the back and between the vertebrae--stuff that makes most people feel a little squeamish. A lady sitting a couple of rows ahead of us called for help. We all looked over and realized that her husband had passed out cold. The anesthesiologist quickly walked over. I did my duty by pushing Malesa ahead of me and into the action. While they were handling the patient situation the doctor asked me to call an extension to get help. I called, told them a man had fainted in room 5-139, and then hung up. Ugh! I learned in scouts that you always stay on the line until they tell you to get off. I guess I flubbed my big moment. They decided to call for additional backup so Malesa quickly pulled out her handy hospital directory and fed phone numbers to the doctor who made the calls. Since Malesa was sort of on the front lines, I now affectionately refer to her as the "Green Beret." All-in-all, it made the class much more exciting.

Happy Birthday Anthony!

Happy Birthday Anthony! We hope that you had a great day.

In honor of your birthday, I'm posting the chicken pot pie recipe you requested. Here it is:

Ingredients:
2 refrigerated pie crusts
1/3 c. butter
1/3 c. chopped onion
1/3 c. flour
1/2 t. salt
1/4 t. pepper
1 1/2 c. chicken broth
2/3 c. milk
2 1/2 c. shredded cooked chicken
2 c. frozen mixed vegetables
1 c. frozen hash browns

Directions:
Heat oven to 425. Place one of the piecrusts firmly into a 9-inch pie pan. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add onion; cook two minutes or until tender. Add flour, salt, and pepper; stir until well blended. Gradually stir in broth and milk, cooking and stirring until thick and ubbly. Add chilcken and vegetables and mix well. Heat until vegetables are no longer cold. Spoon mixture into crust lined pan. Top with second crust, seal edges and flute. Cut slits in several places on top of crust. Bake at 425 for 30-40 minutes or until crust is golden brown. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.

That's it. Hope you enjoy it. Let me know if you have any questions.
